Overview

International Institute of Applied Psychology (AIAP) is a professional body which represents the interests of all aspects of counseling psychology, organizational Psychology, and Business Psychology in United States to promote the advancement of counseling and psychotherapy and their applications to human welfare.

In recent years, education has seen a worldwide shift in emphasis from curriculum content to competency basis. Consequently today's professional qualifications are granted to people who can demonstrate that they are competent. IIAP is one of the few professional bodies in USA, which has developed a competency model for teaching, assessment, and curriculum development. By developing a comprehensive set of competencies for practitioners, the IIAP is committed to working with universities, colleges, practitioners, experts, employers, unions, government, and other professional bodies to develop appropriate standards for professional development.

Today, competency has become the "currency of credentials". All members of IIAP are expected to be able to demonstrate specified competences and are to be awarded according to the number and level of competences they are able to use. Consequently, the members of IIAP will have the capability to not only meet the expectations of their overall work role, but to remain viable in today's competitive work environment.
